Stamp Duty is the tax charged by the Government when you purchase a home. All house-buyers had to pay stamp duty on properties over £125,000, or if you were a first-time buyer you did not need to pay stamp duty unless the property you were buying was more than £300,000.
Following the latest announcement, there are major Stamp Duty savings for home buyers in England. The new changes mean if you buy a home up to the value of £500,000, you will not need to pay any Stamp Duty until 30th June 2021.
This change applies to both first time buyers and those moving on from an existing home. If you are buying a second home, you will still be subject to the 3% stamp duty surcharge.

If you are a first time buyer you may need a little help to take your first steps on the property ladder. With Help to Buy: Equity Loan you can purchase a brand new Wainhome with just 5% deposit and an equity loan from the Government of up to 20%.
