ABOUT THIS DEVELOPMENT


New Church Town is a superb new development of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom family homes situated in the ancient village of St Eval.


St Eval is a civil parish situated midway between Padstow and Newquay, less than 5 miles from the rugged north Cornish coast. The village boasts a primary school, pre-school, social club, post office and definitely needing a mention... a chocolate factory!


Just before the Second World War, much of the village land was acquired by compulsory purchase in 1938 to build an RAF Coastal Command Station - RAF St Eval. Many buildings were demolished leaving only the Norman church, the Vicarage, and Trevisker Farm. During the levelling process many Cornish dry stone walls and three ancient tumuli were destroyed. The remaining buildings were effectively surrounded by RAF activity, and during World War II were taken over for RAF use, with the church tower used as an observation post and navigation mark. The Station closed in March 1959.


Nearby Mawgan Porth offers you a beautiful west facing beach, stunning scenery, wondrous walks, superb surfing, fabulous food from the pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways plus plenty of shopping amenities available.


For walking enthusiasts there is the South West Coastal Path which passes right through Mawgan Porth, so from here you can walk northwards towards Padstow, passing en route the starkly beautiful and legendary Bedruthan Steps, supposedly created by the giant Bedruthan walking the coastline. You can, at low tide, go down the many steps (not those of the giant though) to this long and sandy beach to walk or explore the caves. Walking on from here brings you to Porthcothan Bay,Treyarnon Bay with its natural swimming pool in the rocks at low tide, Constantine and Booby's Bay, Trevose Head and lighthouse, Mother Ivy's, Harlyn and Trevone Bays and finally. Taking the Coastal Path south brings you to Watergate Bay, Porth and finally Newquay.
